Founded in 1985, this San Francisco-based Hula Hālau, led by Kumu Patrick Makuakāne, is a nationally recognized contemporary dance company known for its unique contemporary style called hula mua, or “hula that evolves.”
As Nā Lei Hulu grew and evolved, the dance company sought a new visual identity that captured its bold, rich, energetic, and innovative style—qualities that had become its signature.
